I think this strongly qualifies for the genre we refer to these days as film noir. An economical, lively little Rashomon-style who-dun-it. Gamely and Britishly played by all involved, except for the token "American". (His accent... was not convincing.) Pretty enjoyable and creative, even if it doesn't have quite the same flair that Kurosawa's entry into this particular style of story-telling did. (But then again, did anyone ever really a chance against that guy? I mean come on.)
P.S. Now I kind of want to go re-watch Rashomon. And Seven Samurai. And Throne of Blood. Dammit I'm never gonna get any work done this way!
