I'm not trying to brag, but...

... just kidding. I'm totally bragging.

And I'm breakin' my back, but it's all good!

They say necessity is the mother of all invention, but you know what? I think boredom helps. So thanks, Gender & Africa, for inspiring me to play Frankenstein with my animal crackers.

I call it the elephantle.

The turtowl.
The rabbitoceros.

In other news, I'm going to the NYFF! I'm seeing Mother, White Material, and Wild Grass, which Alain Resnais will be speaking at. My parents are all settled in their new place, so I'll have some to place to crash in the city. It's all very exciting stuff.
This morning I was supposed to be at work at 8:30 AM, but I woke up at 8:43. I thought for sure my day was fucked, but... I'm feeling pretty good.

Shoehats

Watched Brazil this weekend. I really really liked it, as I do with most Gilliam stuff. His stuff is claustrophic and cluttered, but I always find it to ring true in terms of tone and themes and stuff. Blah blah blah, film nerd babble. I just like the guy's work, is all, and I can't wait for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. That funeral scene is still fresh in my mind. I think it made a great point about vanity and the correlation beteen inner life and outer construction and... more film nerd babble. Sorry. Anyway, it is such a weird, disturbingly great payoff from the family friend's subplot that starts in this scene. Also...
SHOEHATS.
Why have they not come to be?

I won't even pretend not to be excited about this.

I'm in print. And on the web! Oh man. I think I may kind of like this whole editor thing.

PUPPIES DRESSED AS CATS II

HE DID IT AGAIN. Conanando is totally underselling this. It's not a mini-dose of joy. It's the happiest I've been all month.

PUPPIES DRESSED AS CATS

I'm catching up on my Conan. And it is glorious.

Because my love for Veronica Mars is strong, no matter how just kind of okay the third season was or how unsatisfying the finale was or even how many terrible movies K. Bell has been in since then. My love for that character transcends.
