The Avengers

I didn't remember much of 1998's The Avengers, besides it starring Uma Thurman in a lot of form-fitting outfits, Ralph Fiennes being all FINE (rimshot!), and Sean Connery as the baddie. Turns out Eddie Izzard (<3) also pops up in it. I think my mom took me to see it, she loved the television show.

The other thing I remebered? This scene. While most of the fun, silly punning and entendre went over my head (I was 11) I think this scene, where Thurman's Mrs. Peel gets stuck in some sort of hellish marble mansion maze, permanently scarred me towards large houses. It stuck with me for years. Seriously. So when it showed up on Netflix Instant this month, I knew I had to get some screencaps. So hopefully you, non-existent readers, can share in my childhood nightmares. Enjoy!

Rebel Without a Cause

Teen angst. Knife fights. Chickie runs. Hay's Code-induced subtext. Pretty people. Dysfunction.

Dennis Hopper???
Hopperific!

This makes me inexpressably happy.

They're like mutant dogs. Look at that wrinkly butt! And that extra nose-skin! Shar Peis: the way of the future.

Happy birthday, me.

I'm 22 now
but I won't be for long
time hurries on
and the leaves
that are green
turn to brown

If:

I was a villian in a Tony Scott movie, I would probably look like this. Grr! I'm so high contrast you can't even see my shnoz! Fear me! I probably have many guns and an improbable ammount of ammunition somewhere on my person!
In other news, I'm hitting a brick wall with this whole working diligently until I get all my shit done thing. About that...

The Rider

By Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, from The Proposition soundtrack

'When?' said the moon to the stars in the sky
'Soon' said the wind that followed them all

'Who?' said the cloud that started to cry
'Me' said the rider as dry as a bone

'How?' said the sun that melted the ground
and 'Why?' said the river that refused to run

and 'Where?' said the thunder without a sound
'Here' said the rider and took up his gun

'No' said the stars to the moon in the sky
'No' said the trees that started to moan

'No' said the dust that blunted its eyes
'Yes' said the rider as white as a bone

'No' said the moon that rose from his sleep
'No' said the cry of the dying sun

'No' said the planet as it started to weep
'Yes' said the rider and laid down his gun
