I honestly wanted to like this because despite his terrible reputation as a human I generally enjoy David O. Russell films and I really like Jennifer Lawrence but I really felt she was miscast here (she's good but she is not convincing as a down-on-her-luck woman in her 30's). Also this movie feels like it's so set on stylizing this woman's life in a way that makes the flow of time strange and inconsistent and perhaps immaterial that it ends up making a lot of the events feel inconsequential.
