Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior

My two favorite characters, uncoincidentally, were the nonverbal ones.

1. Max's ferocious yet unbearably cute and amazingly well trained dog.

2. Inexplicably feral and skilled boomerang-wielding child assassin.

I have no real desire to see the third one, but let's give it a week and see how bored I am once classes are over.

P.S. I can't believe they killed the fucking dog. Even though I dug the movie and the atmosphere and its interesting spin on dystopia I can't forgive it for killing the dog. Not cool, The Road Warrior, not fucking cool.

Steve McQueen.

Roles in which he is hot/awesome/both:

  • The last of the guns for hire in the Wild West? Check.

  • Bored debonair banker and thief? Checkity check!

  • Jaded rogue cop determined to catch his man? Ubercheck.

  • Rebellious American pilot who makes his own vodka and breezily escapes mulitple times from a German POW camp? Checktastical.

He is certainly giving Paul Newman a run for his money in "people-I-would-invent-a-time-machine-so-I-could-be-a-groupie-for-when-they-were-alive/age-appropriate" as well as "hottest-blue-eyed-blonde-man-I-have-ever-seen". They're very exclusive categories. I'm sure if he was still alive, he would be absolutely pleased as punch.

I should probably go to bed now, what with the sun rising and all.

I need a dog.

I just.. I love them so much. And their very presence always makes me happier. I just really need a dog.

Preferaby this kind, the Newfoundland. So pretty. And from everything I have read, they really are these big sweet gentle giants. I could even live with the undoubtedly epic amount of shedding that would coming from one of these things. I don't mind vacuuming. They also can be:

Brown (this picture kills me every time), or:

Spotted. I love that brown one. I think it has more fur than actual bodymass. It looks like a huge, mobile pillow. I want to sleep on top of it.

They seem to run between $800 to $1500. I've started saving.

Ahoy, Rant Ahead!

Yes, we did spend approximately 30 minutes tonight listening to him rant about why unwed mothers are in fact the nation's largest social problem. I can't even go into details because I am very, very angry about this. He may be right and he may be wrong, and whatever his opinion is that remains his prerogative... but he has no right to flaunt these opinions as though they're facts.
Thus, during class I channeled all my rage into an unflattering but surprisingly accurate doodle of him. Take that, Professor Douchebag! You can shove your "I'm-going-to-charge-you-$120-in-stupid-books-for-this-lame-summer-class", "I-wear-shiny-polyester-work-shirts-and-corresponding-leisure-suits-that-do-nothing-to-mask-my-mid-June-old-man-pit-stains", "I-use-this-class-as-a-platform-for-why-I-dislike-Obama-and-liberals" attitude right up your own ass! Or better yet... use it to polish your disgusting, liver-spotted pate. Blegh.
I'll be in the back doodling more unflattering things about you.

Don't Mind If I Do!

Procrastination and avoidance has been the name of the game. I rewatched the first season of Veronica Mars, saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch (good film, reminded of me of Velvet Goldmine, in a good way!), watched two seasons of Dexter, and am now catching up on my late night trifecta (John, Steven and Conan). This is all great except for the part where I skip out on massive amounts of summer class and other responsibilities I have. Sigh. I think I'm burnt out from my burnout, and I haven't even been working that hard. But I have neither a car nor a dog right now, and that is just sad stuff.

I do, however, have a vacuum cleaner. It may just be time to do battle with my apartment's carpet warriors. All I really want to do though is rewatch seasons 2 and 3 of Veronica Mars. She's just so cool. Way more than me.

And now, for something completely different.

Found: Outside the gallery in my brother's school.

Highlights:

  • casual greeting. "Hi". definitely the way to go.
  • "mostly veggie". the first time i read this i thought they meant they were composed mostly of vegetables. which... ew. but then i realized they meant vegetarian. in which case... also ew. and how are you mostly veggie? i didn't realize that's how it worked.
  • "holistically minded folks" LOL
  • cheap fucking rent!

Anyway, maybe it's time to get to work, after my epic three hour nap this afternoon. I REALLY have to stop doing that.

Update Part Deux: (I'm Still In Love)

If I had to choose between the options presented, I'd have to go with Colbert. It helps that he has a face.

Update: Still In Love.

The black balloons were a nice touch.

Oh baby, I was bound for Mexico...

... The one in upstate New York, that is. True story, it's a city. Check it out. It's a pretty weird thing to see when you think you're headed for Canada...
Have now been taking classes and doing this internship for a week. Cannot with any sort of confidence say this was the right choice. I would like very much to be there, to be home, to be anywhere right now. Alas. I think this is the part where I get to grow up and be an adult about this. Finally.
