Stellar acting from Sir Ian, a well-paced mystery placed within the flashbacks of his last case that he's struggling to remember (and thus slowly revealing to us, the audience), a charming sidekick in the young son of his housekeeper (a slightly antagonistic Laura Linney in a role that I actually loved and how I imagine an uneducated single mother might feel about Sherlock Holmes befriending her son). Just a really nice film. My favorite Sherlock iteration of all time? No, forever and always Jeremy Brett sorry not sorry. But well-done all the same.
