Watched: The Sound of Music

Classic opening shot.

Young Christopher Plummer, yes. Yep.

This montage goes on for a lot longer than I remember but it's still great.

The visual storytelling in this scene is really wonderful.

Let's take a moment to talk about the Baroness. Although she's introduced as kind of a neutral character, not a bad person necessarily but really just a barrier to Maria and the Captain's romance, she is revealed to be pretty anti-children and then fails to stop Maria when she runs back to the monastery (which makes sense since she wants her out of the picture), this is sort of the kiss of death to her character. However, her wardrobe is essential #goals. Everything she wears is gorgeous. Let's start with outfit when we first see her.

I'm not 100% about that big hip bow but it's still great.

The best shot I could get of her evening-wear during the goat herd puppet show, it's a little matronly but I would still wear it.

The ball gown she wears when she helps Maria flee her growing feelings; stunning.

She goes with the whole "always leave them wanting more" ethos by leaving this gorgeous dress when she is dumped/breaks up with the Captain. Seriously, I covet that bolero.

Ruh roh.

Away, to the mountains!
