Watched: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Admittedly a rehash of A New Hope but still a very, very enjoyable entry in the Star Wars canon and a welcome return to form after the prequels.

Great visual storytelling.

Quips.

Two leads who are emote in a natural, human manner.

Visual storytelling.

JOKES! THAT ARE FUNNY!

Ginger bad guy du jour, Domnhall Gleeson is great as the resentful, proud, and disciplined foil presence to Adam Driver's chaotic, powerful but emotional sith lord.

Big pig. Gotta get that big pig shot.

Aww, hi old friends!

An acknowledgement of the wonderful claymation of the original chess set which Lucas replaced with CGI in the "fixed" 2000's releases.

Cool cool cool atmosphere and makeup.

I know I took a bajillion screenshots of this but A) it all looks great and B) in the end I couldn't decide what keep or ditch. As a fan, it just had a lot of story beats that I really enjoyed. One of the many reasons that Carrie Fisher's death is so sad is that it would have been really nice to see her have more time to play off another fully fleshed out female character in the series. Oh well. I'm still looking forward to the next installment.
