Watched: Man of Steel

Great things about Man of Steel: Michael Shannon's bonkers/intense villian General Zod, Antje Traue's stoic badass Faora, how the prison capsule Zod and his compatriots look so hilariously phallic, the Kent family's blue heeler and later Ma Kent's border collie, Kevin Costner and Diane Keaton's Kent parents (even if their parts in the plot are underwhelming), the look of Krypton self-destructing, Henry Cavill being ridiculously hot, Amy Adams (always, in everything), Christopher Meloni even though he doesn't have a lot to do.

Terrible things about Man of Steel: the plot, the dialogue. Why do the Kryptonians need Earth if they're just going to terraform? Why can't both of Kal-El's parents be in the ship's computer so he can meet them? Why.... just why? So many why's? Also, the Jesus parallels. TOO MUCH GUYS. So heavy handed.

Mediocre things about Man of Steel: the planet of Krypton (honestly it looks like a rehash of a lot of different recent scifi/fantasy films), Russel Crowe.
