Watched: Foxcatcher

Mostly about Steve Carell's performance, although to be honest Mark Ruffalo and yes, even Channing Tatum, are pretty great in this. Not your average hoo-rah kind of sports film, this one has this underlying sense of unease and ickiness spread throughout. You just know this DuPont guy is bad news from the way he treats these brothers on day one to the end of the film. Really dark and it does drag a little in places but it still has an intensity that keeps you interested. Basically the story of a very creepy, one-side love affair hiding in the skin of a sports movie. Also I don't really think this deserved an Oscar nomination for directing, despite my praise for it, although I do think Ruffalo and Carell deserved their nominations.

Make sure you're in a good headspace before you watch this one.
