Watched: The Lost Weekend

A surprisingly honest (for the time, 1945) journey through the dissipation, resolution, and desolation of the alcoholic mind. Honestly, this is one where the Wikipedia entry is worth reading, just because there's so much interesting film history behind the making of this. For example, the famous author Raymond Chandler and this film's director Billy Wilder worked together on Double Indemnity before this and Chandler wrote this screenplay while trying to get sober. During the making of this film he apparently fell off the wagon again, and Wilder is quoted as making it so that he could understand Chandler.

This one does have a happy ending but its story is so bleak leading up to it that in my mind, I don't even remember the ending. Just what leads us there.
