Watched: It Happened One Night

Effortlessly charming, essential old-Hollywood romantic comedy. One of the first and still, to my mind, one of the best. It's Capra doing what he did, sort of shmaltzy, charming screwball. It's Clark Gable and Claudette and Colbert being gorgeous and troubled and magnetic. It's not a classic without reason.

Fun fact, via Wikipedia:

It Happened One Night was the first to win all five major Academy Awards (Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Screenplay), a feat that would not be matched until One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and later by The Silence of the Lambs (1991).

The more you knoooooow! (My pub quiz team lost a point over this one because we correctly guessed The Silence of the Lambs but thought the 70's film was The Godfather, not OFotCN. Sigh.)
